Smooth Carrot & Potato Mash

This is comfort in a bowl. Equal parts carrot and potato, boiled until very soft, then mashed with butter until completely smooth. It's sweet, savoury, and a beautiful pale orange. No pepper, no herbs, no surprises. Just soft, warm, vitamin-packed mash.

Ingredients (Serves 2):

  • 2 large carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • A generous knob of butter
  • A splash of milk
  • Salt

Method:

  1. Boil the carrots and potatoes in salted water until very tender (about 15–20 minutes).
  2. Drain thoroughly. Return to the hot pan to steam off any excess moisture.
  3. Add the butter and milk. Mash until completely smooth. For extra smoothness, use a stick blender or food processor.
  4. Taste and add salt if needed. Eat warm.

Sensory profile: Completely smooth, soft, and uniform. Sweet and mildly savoury. No lumps, no surprises.

Why it's gut-friendly: Carrots are rich in soluble fibre and vitamin A. Potatoes provide gentle, easily digestible carbohydrates. Butter adds richness without irritation.
