Smooth Banana & Oat Porridge

This is porridge, but smoother. The banana is mashed into the oats as they cook, disappearing completely and leaving only a gentle sweetness and a silkier texture. No lumps, no chewy bits. Just a warm, creamy bowl of beige.

Ingredients (Serves 1):

  • 50g rolled oats
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed until completely smooth
  • 250ml milk of choice
  • A tiny pinch of salt

Method:

  1. Put the oats, mashed banana, milk, and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer. Cook, stirring frequently, for 5–7 minutes until thick and creamy.
  3. For extra smoothness, blend briefly with a stick blender. Serve immediately.

Sensory profile: Smooth, creamy, and uniform. Mildly sweet. No lumps, no chewy oat texture if blended.

Why it's gut-friendly: Oats are packed with beta-glucan, a prebiotic fibre. Bananas are gentle and provide potassium. A warm, comforting, easily digestible breakfast.
