Chai-Spiced Overnight Oats

Chai-Spiced Overnight Oats

All the warmth of a chai latte, in breakfast form. The spices—cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves—are steeped in the milk before mixing, infusing the oats with a deep, aromatic flavour. It’s the cosiest possible start to a cold morning.

Ingredients (Serves 1):

  • 150ml milk of choice
  • 1 chai tea bag (or ¼ tsp each of ground cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and a pinch of cloves)
  • 50g rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp chopped almonds

Method:

  1. Warm the milk gently with the tea bag or spices. Let it steep for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bag (or strain out the spices if you used ground ones).
  2. Mix the warm spiced milk with the oats, chia seeds, and maple syrup.
  3. Refrigerate overnight. Top with almonds.

Why it’s gut-friendly: The spices—cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves—are all carminative, aiding digestion and reducing inflammation. Oats and chia are prebiotic.
