Edamame with Flaky Sea Salt

Edamame with Flaky Sea Salt

This is the snack I make when I want something warm, savoury, and a bit more substantial than crisps. Frozen edamame (soybeans) take three minutes to cook. Toss with sea salt. That's it. They're addictive in a way that doesn't leave you feeling grim afterwards.

Ingredients (Serves 1):

  • 100g frozen edamame (in pods or shelled)
  • Flaky sea salt

Method:

  1. Cook the edamame according to packet instructions—usually 3–4 minutes in boiling water.
  2. Drain well. If using pods, pile into a bowl and sprinkle generously with sea salt.
  3. Eat by popping the beans out of the pods directly into your mouth. If using shelled, just eat with a spoon.

Why it's gut-friendly: Edamame are young soybeans, packed with plant protein and fibre. They're a prebiotic food, feeding good gut bacteria. Plus, they're warm and satisfying.
