Iced Green Tea with Lemon & Honey
Share
This is what I make when it's warm outside and I want something refreshing that doesn't involve caffeine jitters or sugar crashes. The green tea provides a gentle lift. The lemon makes it bright. It's properly thirst-quenching and packed with antioxidants.
Ingredients (Serves 2):
- 2 green tea bags
- 500ml hot water
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
Method:
- Steep the green tea bags in the hot water for 3–4 minutes. (Don't over-steep—it gets bitter.) Remove the tea bags.
- Stir in the lemon juice and honey until dissolved.
- Leave to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold.
- Serve over ice, garnished with fresh mint if using.
Why it's gut-friendly: Green tea contains polyphenols that act as prebiotics. Lemon adds vitamin C. It's hydrating, antioxidant-rich, and gently caffeinated.
