Iced Ginger & Turmeric Green Tea

Iced Ginger & Turmeric Green Tea

This is what I make when it's warm outside and I want something refreshing that doesn't involve caffeine jitters or sugar crashes. The green tea provides a gentle lift. The ginger and turmeric add anti-inflammatory goodness. It's bright, zingy, and properly thirst-quenching.

Why it's gut-friendly: Green tea contains polyphenols that act as prebiotics, feeding good gut bacteria. Ginger and turmeric are anti-inflammatory. It's hydrating and gentle.

Ingredients (Serves 2):

  • 2 green tea bags
  • 500ml hot water
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, sliced
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric (or 1 tsp fresh, grated)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Method:

  1. Place the green tea bags, ginger slices, and turmeric in a heatproof jug.
  2. Pour over the hot water and let steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bags and strain out the ginger if you like (or leave it in for a stronger flavour).
  4. Stir in the lemon juice and honey until dissolved.
  5. Leave to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold.
  6. Serve over ice, garnished with fresh mint if using.
