Iced Ginger & Turmeric Green Tea
Share
This is what I make when it's warm outside and I want something refreshing that doesn't involve caffeine jitters or sugar crashes. The green tea provides a gentle lift. The ginger and turmeric add anti-inflammatory goodness. It's bright, zingy, and properly thirst-quenching.
Why it's gut-friendly: Green tea contains polyphenols that act as prebiotics, feeding good gut bacteria. Ginger and turmeric are anti-inflammatory. It's hydrating and gentle.
Ingredients (Serves 2):
- 2 green tea bags
- 500ml hot water
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, sliced
- ½ tsp ground turmeric (or 1 tsp fresh, grated)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
Method:
- Place the green tea bags, ginger slices, and turmeric in a heatproof jug.
- Pour over the hot water and let steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags and strain out the ginger if you like (or leave it in for a stronger flavour).
- Stir in the lemon juice and honey until dissolved.
- Leave to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold.
- Serve over ice, garnished with fresh mint if using.
