Gut-Soothing Turmeric Latte (Golden Milk)
Share
This is the drink I make when I need something warm and grounding. It's creamy, gently spiced, and feels like a ritual. The turmeric gives it that golden glow. The ginger adds warmth. It's the kind of drink that makes you slow down, even if just for five minutes.
Why it's gut-friendly: Turmeric is powerfully anti-inflammatory. Ginger soothes digestion and reduces nausea. Cinnamon helps stabilise blood sugar. Black pepper is essential—it helps your body absorb the turmeric.
Ingredients (Serves 1):
- 250ml milk of choice (oat milk works beautifully)
- ½ tsp ground turmeric
- ¼ tsp ground ginger (or ½ tsp fresh, grated)
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 tsp maple syrup or honey
- ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Method:
- Place all ingredients in a small saucepan
- Whisk gently and heat over medium-low heat until steaming but not boiling.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
- Pour into a mug and sip slowly.
