Dark Chocolate & Orange Pots

Dark Chocolate & Orange Pots

These are rich, silky, and taste incredibly decadent. They're also just melted dark chocolate, orange zest, and a splash of milk. They take five minutes to make and set in the fridge. They feel like a proper restaurant dessert but require almost no effort. The orange and dark chocolate combination is classic for a reason.

Ingredients (Serves 2):

  • 100g dark chocolate (70% or higher), broken into pieces
  • 100ml milk of choice (oat milk works well)
  • Zest of ½ orange
  • Pinch of salt
  • Greek yoghurt or coconut yoghurt to serve (optional)

Method:

  1. Put the chocolate, milk, orange zest, and salt in a heatproof bowl.
  2. Set the bowl over a pan of gently simmering water (don't let the bowl touch the water). Stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Alternatively, microwave in short bursts, stirring between each, until melted.
  4. Pour into two small ramekins or espresso cups.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  6. Serve with a dollop of yoghurt if you like.

Why it's gut-friendly: Dark chocolate contains polyphenols that act as prebiotics, feeding good gut bacteria. Orange zest adds flavour without refined sugar. It's a small, rich portion—satisfying without overdoing it.
