Dark Chocolate & Orange Pots
Share
These are rich, silky, and taste incredibly decadent. They're also just melted dark chocolate, orange zest, and a splash of milk. They take five minutes to make and set in the fridge. They feel like a proper restaurant dessert but require almost no effort. The orange and dark chocolate combination is classic for a reason.
Ingredients (Serves 2):
- 100g dark chocolate (70% or higher), broken into pieces
- 100ml milk of choice (oat milk works well)
- Zest of ½ orange
- Pinch of salt
- Greek yoghurt or coconut yoghurt to serve (optional)
Method:
- Put the chocolate, milk, orange zest, and salt in a heatproof bowl.
- Set the bowl over a pan of gently simmering water (don't let the bowl touch the water). Stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Alternatively, microwave in short bursts, stirring between each, until melted.
- Pour into two small ramekins or espresso cups.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
- Serve with a dollop of yoghurt if you like.
Why it's gut-friendly: Dark chocolate contains polyphenols that act as prebiotics, feeding good gut bacteria. Orange zest adds flavour without refined sugar. It's a small, rich portion—satisfying without overdoing it.
