Green Dream Smoothie (That Doesn't Taste Like Lawn)
Share
I know. Green smoothies. They look like pond water. They taste like you're drinking a salad. They're what wellness influencers drink while doing yoga at sunrise, and you are not that person.
Neither am I. But this one is different. The mango and banana make it creamy and sweet. The lime and ginger make it zingy and fresh. The spinach is just... there. Quietly doing its job. Adding fibre and nutrients without making its presence known.
This is the smoothie for mornings when you need something—anything—in your system, but you can't face chewing. It takes three minutes. It tastes like a tropical holiday. It doesn't taste like lawn.
Look. I know green smoothies have a reputation. But this one genuinely tastes like a tropical holiday, not like you're chewing on a hedgerow. The ginger and lime make it sing.
Why it's gut-friendly: Spinach is gentle on the stomach and packed with fibre. Ginger soothes digestion. Chia seeds add omega-3s and keep things moving. The banana and mango make it creamy without dairy.
Ingredients (Serves 1):
- 1 large handful of fresh spinach
- 1 ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
- 100g frozen mango chunks
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- Juice of ½ lime
- 200ml oat milk or coconut water
Method:
- Chuck everything in a blender.
- Blitz until completely smooth. Add a splash more liquid if it's too thick.
- Pour into a glass and drink immediately, preferably while feeling vaguely virtuous.
